Von Weiss Dermatology Center in Salem, Massachusetts, works with
the goal of offering superior and affordable skin care in its region.
Dr. John von Weiss, Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the
Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology, and the New England Dermatological
Society, established the practice in the early 1970s. His son, Hans E.
von Weiss, D.O., took over as lead dermatologist in 1998. In subsequent
years, Von Weiss Dermatology Center expanded its professional staff
which currently includes plastic surgeon Dr. Jeannie H. Chung, Nurse
Practitioner Elizabeth Crawford, and Physician’s Assistant Heidi M.
Sauer.
Dr. John von Weiss began private practice in 1967. He
earned his medical degree from the University of Oregon in 1956 and
performed his internship in Oakland, California, at Highland-Alameda
County Hospital. He then served his country as a Captain in the United
States Army for five years. After the completion of his residency in
dermatology at Boston City Hospital, he received further training in
Germany and Austria as well as in Boston’s Lahey Clinic. He has served
as part of the hospital staffs of North Shore Medical Center and
Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem. Additionally, he
has held teaching positions at Tufts University School of Medicine in
Boston.
The tradition of service at Von Weiss Dermatology Center
continues under the direction of Dr. Hans E. von Weiss who holds board
certification from the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He
earned his Doctor of Osteopathy in 1990 after attending the University
of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He has
served in clinics and communities in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and
Massachusetts.
